Designer Interview

Southern Highlands fashion designer & creator of
FABBOO Zoë Georgiou

When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?
Fashion has always been an attraction and love of mine. It
runs in the family, both my parents are Designers by trade (retired)

How would you describe your fashion design style?
Classic, timeless, handcrafted quality designs. Sewn with LOVE in
Australia. I hand select beautiful natural fibres to make sure they
remain pleasant to the skin, functional and long lasting. I design
from everyday to evening wear.

How does a typical day of work for you go?
It's a juggling game, it's not always smooth, but somewhat
entertaining. I am married and have two beautiful girls ages 6 and 7.
I am very lucky! I have a husband that is supportive and motivates
me all the way, that makes my days so much easier to create and
be who I am.

What is your creative process when designing a new piece?
I don't think I ever switch off. When I'm designing new pieces, it's
always on my mind... when I'm driving, cooking, playing with the girls.
Fabrics that I come across, colours, shapes, sometimes plants
inspire my design process, I love being in the garden.

How would you like women & children to feel when they wear your pieces?
Naturally make you look and feel great!

What makes your designs unique?
My passion and enthusiasm makes me create a unique, stylish, quality
range of clothes. I select beautiful, muted, romantic, earthy colours
that are soft and versatile but distinct enough to be heard.

What is your advice to aspiring fashion designers?
Believe!

What will you be selling at the Handmade Fashion Only Market?
Ladies and children's fashion.
