Handmade Market Wrap Up

Well, what can I say? Best market ever? Most consistently-pouring-in-crowd ever? Most stunning line-up of stalls ever? Handmade's Winter Warmer Market 2011 was just a smorgasbord of treasure - from the waft of chai tea to the bejewelled cases of macaroons to the glittering baubles, squeaky cute kids' toys, eye-rollingly gorgeous fashion, head-swirling homewares, heart-racing papergoods... the list goes on and on and on... and on. Handmade was also thrilled to support Bosom Buddies.

If you didn't make it to the nation's capital for the ultimate Handmade experience, don't despair... just pen in Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October now for Handmade's two-day Mega Market, coinciding with Floriade. With nearly half a million extra visitors in Canberra for the month of Floriade, this is going to be Monster Mega.

It may have been icy fresh in Canberra but inside the National Convention Centre was all toasty warm atmosphere, the loveliest stallholders ever and the best best best of stunning Australian handmade designs. Probably best I hush now - and let you peruse the {rather long} aisles...

Enjoy.

Hi Julie,

Some people just have style... you're one of them.

You've created a great concept, built a wonderful team, attracted hugely talented stall-holders and, because noting is beyond you.. your photography is also amazing. All class. Well done.

Really great photos Tania. I am going to copy and make a scrapbook layout from them to celebrate my enjoyment of the event yesterday. My outing was again a fantastic experience with everyone very happy and helpful to customers and fellow shoppers alike.
Great effort everyone!

Amazing photos! Now if I could just work out which stallholder was which and I'd be online to shop and bring some of those beautiful things to Hanoi. Especially love the Canberra bus roll!

Hi grublets, I took around 600 photos but couldn't possibly put them all on the blog, alas. I do hope to have more photos available to stallholders soon, it's just incredibly time consuming.

Another issue for photography is the crowds... It can be a real struggle to get shots with people in the way and a handful of stalls may get missed as a result. Along with some stallholders not wanting photos taken and time constraints, it can be tough getting shots.

I wanted to assure everyone I do try to cover as many of your gorgeous stalls as I can and hopefully will catch anyone I missed next time!

Looks like it was a fantastic day with a great range of stallholders. I must ask though were those red resin/plastic bangles REALLY handmade?

Market Girl said...

Hi Anonymous yes they REALLY are. Perhaps you would like to do a resin casting course with us one day?
