Designer Profile: Look Mama!

What is your name?
Please call me Gillian.

What is your design company called?
Look Mama! Our logo has wings on it to say “Look Mum, no hands and I’m flying.”

What do you make?
Mostly greeting cards and button badges. We’ve just added a few framed images which turned out rather well.

What’s special about your goodies?
We make greeting cards and other products that make people laugh, that bring a bit of fun to someone’s day. It’s great to see people forget themselves and laugh out loud at one of our cards. That’s the best.

What’s your favourite design?
Well it changes, I think at the moment it is Menopause Mo. It’s making light of a common occurrence. You may as well have a laugh about it. Unless you are a guy. A guy giving that card is living on the edge.

What inspires your designs?
Just life. I like to see the funny side of things.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A horse.

If you would be anywhere right now, where would it be and why?
One of my kids is desperate to have a kakapo parrot as a new best friend so we might have to make a sneaky trip in the dead of night to New Zealand, duffel bag and seed bell in hand.

What’s your biggest designer dream?
To distribute in the UK and the USA. It’s very hard and we’ve gotten close a couple of times. The global mess didn’t help us there.

...and I started a silly blog at lookmamaloves.wordpress.com/. I always said we wouldn’t but it’s turned out to be a bit of a laugh. So who wouldn’t want to do that then eh?

I love the 'seasonings greetings' range of cards! Gets round the whole religious or non decision nicely by offending even the livestock! I'm 'stocking' up now. xox A
