Brilliant Idea is the home of Lighthouse, a non-profit organisation which aims to harness the creativity and innovation potential in the Canberra region. Lighthouse provides a framework to both attract and encourage businesses, new and established, to develop their organisational infrastructure and management expertise.
Lighthouse runs the ACT Women’s Microcredit Program which provides ten interest-free loans per year to Canberra women on low incomes, encouraging them to take the steps necessary to start up a small business, and develop financial independenec.
In the past few years, Microcredit has gained recognition as an effective way to bring very poor families low-cost financial services.
The United Nations declared 2005 the International Year of Microcredit, recognising it as an instrument for socioeconomic development.
