Handmade wrap-up

Hello & A Merry Christmas to everyone,
I would like to start by thanking everyone for coming along to A Handmade Christmas. It was a record breaking hot weekend but still you all came.

It has been an amazing first year for all of us here at Handmade. Can you believe it has only been one year since we started? No me neither. We have had so much fun watching Handmade grow from 40 stalls and a few thousand shoppers, wow we have grown!

I would also like to thank our many helpers for their amazing efforts both on the day and in the lead up to Handmade. It takes so many fabulous people to make Handmade happen, YOU the customer is included in that list also.

As for next year we have some very exciting things in the works. We are still confirming some details, due to this we have not sent out the re booking form or put up applications for next years markets. Once we have this sorted then we will post all the details in a newsletter and on the website.

Congratulations to all our winners at Handmade.
Raffle Hamper - Sam Hayes
Electric Firefly Lighting - Chelsea Luton
We raised another fabulous $1200 for MND this market, once again thank you for all your support.

Cheers & have a very Merry Christmas

Wow what a market!

We are starting to think that Handmade is linked with extreme weather..... for the few people that did not brave the heat, we had a 40 year record for November of 38.9 deg on Friday evening with Saturday not far behind. of course today is a max 21 deg, what is with that?
Anyway thank you to each and every person and stallholder who came along to Handmade on the weekend. we had a fabulous time and hope you did too.

We will post some more pictures soon.

Tips for looking after your biggest asset

Every business has customers who are worth more, who buy more, who recommend you more. Don’t treat all your customers the same. Find the ones that are better than the others and look after them.

Don’t develop a product that “everyone” will buy. Everyone does not go to markets. Everyone doesn’t use the Internet. If you cater to everyone you will have a watered down product that doesn’t interest anyone. Instead create something special for someone. Cater for the someone that will buy more from you and will tell their friends about you.

When people are buying non-essential items, it’s not the destination that counts it’s the journey. It’s the thrill of finding a bargain, something unique or a perfect gift for someone. When they attend a market it’s about the thrill of possibility and the high of anticipation. Make sure you build the experience into selling your product.

And finally, the type of clients you have says something about your business, so don’t settle for any client. Aim for those clients that support your brand image.

What next?

When it comes to marketing your business it's not always easy to decide what you should do next. Should you send out a media release or post on your blog? Should you advertise in that new magazine or should you redesign your website?

While some people are naturally good time managers, most of us need a priority list to work from. When it comes to marketing, a really useful tool to plan your marketing activities is a Marketing Calendar.

A marketing calendar is a document that allows you to plan all your marketing and PR activities over a twelve month period. It warns you about upcoming deadlines and allows you to evaluate new opportunities in relation to your overall strategy for the year. This is useful from a budgeting point of view as it makes you think and evaluate before jumping at every ‘great opportunity’ or special offer that comes your way.

If you want to find out how to build a Marketing Calendar for your creative business, then join us for the next series of Market Stallholders Workshops that start on the 28th October.
